The First Chosen

The First Chosen are the nineteen major deities of Erethel. They are said to be the sole cause of all of creation, including minor deities and supernatural creatures. (Note that Erathaoe and Mensep are listed, although legends tell that they were created by the First Chosen.)

Eons ago, Aaoo killed Venyeraphet "for the pleasure of the pain of it." Jarooth and Yasseph combined their blood with that of Venyeraphet to create Erathaoe and Mensep, who are allowed to come and go upon Erethel as they please. The rest of the First Chosen have agreed not to set foot upon the world except during the Days of the Spirits (see Calendar).

There has been no chief among the gods for many mortal centuries. However, it has become clear that Assaraah, in alliance with Aaoo, Aakbarath, and Gauder, has put himself forth to be the next leader. Opposing Assaraah are primarily Santash and Solash.
