Kinsolving Visit

A086 Track 1 Assignment

Well, due to John not having much of a voice the other mission popped back. Bobby ran for us and Mike and Gwen joined in since we were a bit shorthanded. We had Weezuachew, Kathy Oakbranch, Mischa, Tam, Theamon and Null and Void. We had to go and fix a problem on a planet with some odd things going on and the shiny one assembled a crack team of professionals to go solve it. Then he decided sending us would be more fun and picked some people :)

We got an ESS and were popped into orbit around the planet. There were two ships in orbit, one hulk of a destroyed ship and two observation satellites. We sneaked over to one of the observation satellites and downloaded the records from it. We also noticed that there was *something* using the sat to observe as well since the mana was very high next to it. The records showed some ships (two or three?) appear and fight. The one still in orbit lost and some escape capsules went to the planet below from it. We could tell there were elves one both sides of the battle. The winners left. Later the two ships in orbit arrived separately.

After seeing some of this Tam returned from the galley with a new twin sister, Kim. We moved away and back towards the sat a few times to get the range of the mana zones. During this one of the ships sent down a couple shuttles. We were then noticed by the other ship and hailed by Capt. Grimes. After a brief conversation we went over to the hulk and investigated it. We determined that they used to be Drow but we couldn't find much else that was useful. While we looked over our finds the ESS started towards the planet and some of the crew passed out when a barrier was passed. We landed safely near a city that had appeared after the shuttles had landed.

We got out and were met by some unicorns. One of them changed forms and asked for our help and told us that they were confused but the ones in the city would try and stop us. We entered the city and headed toward the shuttles and were met by some elven guards, wizards and nobles. Tam slipped off during this and made his way over to the shuttles. We talked some and discovered that the elves thought the changes were good and wanted us to leave. Thaemon tried a Suggest spell on the leader and it worked. Two of the wizards stepped up to him when her started to agree to let us see the offworlders. Thaemon put an utter dome over the three and Weez made gestures like he did it. He claimed to be an evolved elf and the others were confused about how he could even cast spells. We agreed to depart and did.

The main group moved to a location where another group of the Drow had landed in their escape pods. They came running up when we landed. Kathy made a ball lightning got out toward the group of Drow and only two came at us. Theamon, Kathy, Mischa and Null and Void exited. Theamon teleported on top to deal with a Drow casting something on the ESS. Null swept the leg out from under the other one and he surrendered. The Ball lighting took out a too curious Drow and the rest ran away. Kathy suspended the surviving Drow after questioning. We talked to Capt. Grimes again and he told us about an archaeological expedition he was trying to head off. Most of the party went looking for them. Thaemon went off to take care of the rest of the Drow since it looked like they were helping the effect along.

Meanwhile Tam got into a building and came up behind a Drow talking to Capt. Flandry. He put a knife to the Drow's throat and then knocked him cold after a brief discussion. He introduced himself and loaned Flandry a gun. Tam tested the gun and they then hid to take care of the guards that came.

Around this time the rest of the party found a machine that seemed to be part of an ancient chaos generator. They started to shut it down and were attacked by the remaining archaeologists who we in bad shape and nuts also. Kathy put up a force dome and they finished turning off the machine. Thaemon found the Drow camp and cast a mass daze on it, killing the two that resisted. He suspended the rest after the death of the last one hindered the shutdown effort some. We collected the Drow and archaeologists from our site and left the planet. Tam left with Flandry and his men on their shuttles. Kim left after we visited the sat again. We then turned over the prisoners and got Tam back. Then we popped back.
