Kef asks Nathan to check the area for Alonzo "in spirit." To everyone the pentagram room feels "oppressive and creepy." Clint remarks, "This place feels like Jeffrey Dahmer's bedroom." Nathan tells him, "Leave the room alone -- the creepy feeling is fading."

Nathan smiles at Wilma Walker; she glares back defiantly. "On the crazy/hot scale," he says, "your 'crazy' goes past your 'hot'. You're not going to get special treatment." He prevents her from spitting by placing a finger to her lips. "What did you think was gonna happen? What was your reward? Alonzo is the Speaker; what is your role?" Wilma: "I am dedicated. We cleanse the planet and start again. Many great people are considered 'crazy' or 'stupid'." Nathan: "Evil, not stupid." Wilma: "I don't mean total cleanse, idiot. It was such a good plan. I don't know what went wrong." Nathan: "Three letters - F B I." Wilma: "The pentagram calls things of power, not just demons." Nathan: "I'm trying to figure out your next step." Wilma: "Think of demons as a resource to harness to cleanse the earth. Alonzo gave us the procedures." Nathan: "This was just a test run. I understand. I hope you partly succeed in meeting a being of power."

Ambulances arrive. Fredine tells Clint, "The press is here." Clint: "No comment."

Nathan calls an Uber for Kef. Clint drops Nathan and Orley off at their office. Clint writes and files his report before going home for the night, after telling Fredine "Congratulations on your big debut." The FBI will be "running up LES and stomping them out."

Nathan's back in the office by 10:00am. He tells Sara to bill the FBI, LES, and ELF, and run a background check on Clint Burnett. "I think he's gonna be a problem. I don't care about raising red flags" with the search.

On Saturday, May 4th, Kef notices more cops working at Scarborough Faire. There's apparently a "media frenzy" related to the sirens heard last night in Waxahachie, plus reports from Mayfest and the DFW Hyatt.

The report Nathan gets back on Clint indicates a "stellar" record at bringing in fugitives. Clint usually works alone and is a workaholic. Nathan instructs Sara, "Keep an eye on Agent Burnett. He found me. How?"

Alonzo wakes up Wednesday, May 8th, "confused and befuddled." The FBI releases an official statement naming ELF and LES as "domestic terrorists" under active investigation, and thanking the Dallas Police Department for their assistance.

Nathan tells Kef that Alonzo and Wilma are being held by the Feds for "conspiracy to commit terrorist acts, etc." Kef has Nathan and Orley take her to her favorite Italian restaurant, Two Guys from Italy.

Friday, May 10th - Clint is called in to his supervisor's office, congratulated on his "excellent work," and quizzed about Nathan Rahl and the "consultant bill" he sent to the FBI. Clint: "Rahl wasn't hired, so the bill is invalid." His supervisor replies, "To keep the bridge open, the FBI will pay his bill." Nathan's background -- he was formerly a policeman in New Orleans, has no military experience, lives in Prestonwood, and his office is at Monticello and Central Expressway. Clint will be looking for Erik Gibbs.

Nathan gets a call from the Dallas FBI office, offering him an "ongoing, contingency consultant contract." Nathan replies, "Tell Agent Burnett I look forward, I am gung-ho to work for him."

Nathan calls Fredine Garrison and invites her for a lunch date at Two Guys. She mentions this to Clint, who warns her, "He's a fast talker." He tries to surreptitiously plant a bug on her, but she notices. Nathan: "Some of the evidence you collected -- do you know what it's for?" FG: "They've done analysis, but I can't share the results. The composition of the pentagram shares components with the hallucenogenic gas." Nathan: "I suggest checking into older civilizations, like the Sumerian. After all, you're with the premiere investigation agency in the entire world." FG has worked with Clint for two years; she thinks he's such a good profiler because of his intuitive leaps. Nathan: "Please read his report on how he found me." FG: "How do you get your info? You have a profiler who helps you." Nathan: "I have people who work for me. They are very good in their area." FG: "I'm confident that LES will cease to exist." Nathan: "If you want a fresh start, come work for me -- just to irritate Agent Burnett."

Friday, May 17th - Kef has a vague dream about a brief newspaper article regarding the attempted kidnapping of Orley Anders in downtown Fort Worth. There's mention of an irate husband and that the kidnapper was scared off. The newspaper's date is May 21st (Tuesday). Later that day she learns that Will McDonald, a Star-Telegram reporter, "hates" Orley and blames him for being fired from the Dallas Morning News. He's been with the FWST for over five years.

Saturday, May 18th - At 7:00am Lucy Buckner calls Nathan at home. Someone from Europe tried to hack their network. "They are very good, but they got nothing." Nathan reminds her that Alabon is in Europe. He also asks about her "old friends;" she hears from them every couple of months, and claims she always reports these contacts to Nathan. Nathan: "I want to know where they are."

Sunday, May 19th - Kef dreams that on the front page of Tuesday morning's paper is an article about a car bomb exploding at 7:02pm Monday evening in front of the building where Rahl Investigation is located. There are five (unnamed) fatalities - a person in the car and four passersby.

Monday, May 20th - Kef calls Nathan and describes her dream.

Nathan calls Detective Mike Dallas. "There's going to be a car blowing up around 7pm. Help me make that not happen." Nathan plans to close his office early and send his employees home. "I think there will be an FBI agent around -- Agent Burnett -- I don't want him hurt." Nathan then calls Orley, who is in Fort Worth, and tells him not to come into the Dallas office.

Clint learns that the FBI has found an LES/ELF link to Alabon. An Alabon security officer was arrested six weeks ago for breaking into Nathan Rahl's house. Alabon is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. "We need to find out about Alabon."

Clint, reasoning that Nathan is "on retainer" to the FBI, goes to Nathan's office and insists that he speak with him immediately. After a short standoff, they go to a conference room and Clint says, "Tell me about Alabon." After they broke into Nathan's house they were charged by the State of Texas with felony breaking and entering, burglary, and sabotage of the power grid. They made bail, and Fred Mays refused extradition. He has entered a plea of "not guilty" and the case goes to court on June 3rd.

Nathan: "They were looking for an artifact in my possession, a figurine. I bought it from an antique dealer in Dallas. They tried to buy it from me, and I declined. They think it has mystical properties." Clint: "Does it?" Nathan: "That's none of your business. That same night they broke into my office. I have no clue what they think the artifact will do. I bought three items. Alabon came to purchase them from me, I refused. They came to my office and my home, but the items weren't there. They used a high-tech device to pump knockout gas into my house. They are 'next generation technical', beyond that of your organization's technology. I billed them for the breakin, and they paid me." Clint asks for photographs of the artifacts.

Nathan: "Next time you come in and don't stop, the receptionist will trank you. I look forward to working with you."

As Clint returns to his car, he notices another car parked a couple of buildings away. The driver is watching people come and go.

Nathan meets with "frantic Mrs Smith" in Conference Room A. Taking Nathan's advice, she had filed for divorce three weeks ago and moved i with "a friend he doesn't know about." She'd gotten a call from him to meet at Del Frisco's for lunch at noon tomorrow (Tuesday). "He shouldn't have known where I was at! How did he know? Should I go? I'm scared!" Nathan calls in Karen Lomas. Karen and Mrs Smith will go and collect the latter's stuff and go "somewhere else" for a few days. Karen will go to the lunch meeting with Mrs Smith. "Then you will come back, tell me, then talk to your lawyer. Karen is with you until you come back tomorrow."

Clint calls Nathan and tells him about "some guy casing your building." Nathan calls Detective Dallas and asks about surveillance; no, the DPD has not set up surveillance yet. Nathan: "This seems like your jurisdiction." Nathan tells Clint about the bomb threat. Clint sends Nathan a photo of the guy's face (which he is also running through Interpol); it's no one Nathan recognizes, so he forwards it to Lucy with the query, "Who's this?" Not long after, the ID comes back: Jameson Barrett, an English merc, ex-SAS, British passport; he rented a car from DFW three days ago.

Clint sees Detective Dallas drive up, get out, and talk to Barrett. After a few minutes, Dallas returns to his car and watches Barrett drive away. A police car follows Barrett.

Dallas tells Nathan that Barrett claimed he was waiting for someone. "His answers were reasonable." Nathan tells him that Jameson Barrett is a mercenary. Dallas: "I'll bring the surveillance early." Nathan: "If I die, I'm coming back to haunt you."

Kef and a couple of friends are in a shop in Waxahachie. Two men claiming to be investigators are quizzing people about "what happened two weeks ago." They aren't showing any credentials. They both are "focused on their job" but one is "leaking frustration." They ask about "people without proper clearance" who were there. From their accents, they are from New York and Boston.

At 1:00PM Nathan announces, "Everyone gets the rest of the afternoon off." He quietly tells Sara about the bomb threat, adding "You go on home, I'll lock up."

Orley calls. His "kidnapper" is named Melvin Zimmerman. "He says 'the military guy' told him I would be in town, and he would pay him $500 to bum-rush me into a vehicle." Nathan sends a photo of Jameson Barrett, and Zimmerman identifies him as "the military guy." Nathan: "Tell him he owes us $500 or tomorrow we'll tell the police."

Clint learns that along with Jameson Barrett on the plane from Switzerland were Ishmael Sweeney (an Irishman) and Horatio Pitts. He emails their photos to Detective Dallas. He learns that Barrett is staying at a Motel 6 in south Dallas, Sweeney is in detention at Fort Worth police headquarters, and Pitts is in south Dallas. Clint calls FWPD and learns that Sweeney "the idiot" was locked up for assault and battery; "he tripped and knocked himself senseless in a coffee line."

Dallas informs Nathan of the "team of three." Nathan has Lucy check Pitts' and Sweeney's names. An hour later she confirms that they are mercenaries for hire. Pitts was American Special Forces; Sweeney was Irish military with an honorable discharge. "I'll try to get their current employer." Nathan: "Be careful, I'm thinking it's Alabon." Nathan relates this information to Dallas. Not long afterward, he gets a text confirming that Alabon is their current employer.

Nathan: "I'm going to find out 'what's the beef' -- maybe we can talk it out without bombs or bullets."

Nathan phones Sabrina Bowers. "Thank you for your payment. Are you trying to re-collect?" "I'm collecting info to enable me to do that." She admits sending three people for "information gathering." Nathan: "Do we have to go through this exercise?" SB: "There's a big unknown I'm trying to isolate. We have set up a US office in Arlington. I expect the DA will call you to testify. I'm sure it was all a misunderstanding." Nathan: "I don't see how you 'misunderstand' being in my house." SB: "I have no such plan [to blow up the front of Nathan's office building]. I don't support illegal activity." Then she offers "$500K for the artifacts." Nathan: "This is professional, not personal." SB: "Mr Mays is not happy, but we want the artifacts more than we want you." Nathan: "Tell Mr Mays whenever he wants we can talk out our differences. I wondered if you were directly trying to kill me."

Kef agrees to go with some friends to see a movie. Stopped near the Faire exit is a car with its hood up and a bored man fiddling with something in the trunk. As they pull away, Kef notices the man taking a photo of the back of her friend's car. Kef says calmly, "He's waiting for me." She asks her friend to backtrack and talk to him. The man is nervous, claims his car broke down, and he's waiting for AAA. He is scruffy, disheveled, and speaks with a Northeast accent. Kef, crouched down where the man can't see her, calls Nathan, who tells her "Ask him if he works for Alabon." Kef relays the question through her friend (who is putting on a marvelous performance) and the man reacts with complete surprise. Kef has her friends call Scarborough Faire security and Waxahachie police. The police zip-tie the man, search his car, and confiscate his camera.

7:00pm comes and goes and there is no bomb. Nathan tells Detective Dallas thanks, and mentions that there's an Alabon guy in Waxahachie jail. "If I were 'fact-finding', I wouldn't send mercs."

Fred Mays (Alabon chief of security) calls Clint and claims that Nathan Rahl has framed him for breaking into his house (which he says he didn't do, a blatant lie). Clint: "Is that why you were trying to silence him?" Mays 'really' just wants the artifacts. Clint: "Maybe he summoned a demon." Mays doesn't even blink -- "Demons don't pay attention to us." Clint: "Meet me with your team and tell me your story." Mays: "You're working for Rahl. My gut tells me not to trust you. I refuse to meet with you tonight. I'm debriefing someone." Clint: "How about at your office tomorrow?"

Clint "happens" to find Nathan at the Blue Goose in Addison (Beltline @ Midway) and tells him about Mays. Nathan: "He must think you're a special kind of stupid. They're probably planning some real violence now."

Clint asks about the significance of the Washington building in the 1930s. Nathan: "There was a gruesome murder, and the building burned. The official explanation does not comport with what happened. They opened a portal, something came out, killed them. It imbedded evil forces into objects in the room. They have two of those objects and assume that I have three." Clint offers to have the FBI assume custody of the artifacts, "but we won't pay you for them."

Clint drives to Mays' hotel but he isn't there. Clint senses that Mays is two hours south of him on I-35. Clint calls him. "Hey, Fred, that's a pretty long drive." Mays, incredulous: "You're following me??" Mays turns around and starts driving back northward. He claims he was "going to visit a friend" and that Rahl had "hit me with a stun gun." Clint: "Please make our meeting tomorrow."

Next morning, Clint follows Mays to his "office." He gets Starbucks and waits. By 10:00am all have arrived except the one who's in Waxahachie jail. Clint interrogates them. One guy's story doesn't jive. They claim Mays' "friend" in Waco is a lady. Clint heads to Waxahachie to get the remaining guy's story.

At 4:00pm Nathan gets another call from Sabrina Bowers, who offers $1 million. "My 'fact-finding mission' was an abysmal failure -- the FBI got involved." Nathan: "The FBI is also running down your connection with ELF." Bowers offers $2 million. Nathan: "I can't in good conscience let you kill people. I know we'll meet in Hell, but you'll be a step below." Bowers had heard from Mays and is upset that the FBI is on to him. "I'm withdrawing, and Mays thinks he's going to jail." She offers $3 million. "I still don't know how you anticipated us!" Nathan: "I only got on the FBI contract because you were coming." Bowers admits she's drunk. Nathan offers her $9,990 for her two artifacts. Bowers is recalling her mercs and the New England detective agency she hired ("They didn't find squat!"). Nathan: "Calm down, take the L, and move on."

At midnight Nathan hears from Detective Dallas, "Your FBI partner has taken depositions and sent a package. These guys were trying to frame you. The DA will tear them apart at their June 3 court date." Nathan: "Mays will be deported, the rest will go to jail. That's fine with me."
