GM: John Gourd

HAWAII REST PERIOD

Mission Team:

  • Tanisha Lazuli
  • Two-Leaf
  • Milo Francis
  • John Whitetop
  • Anthony Darr
  • Lara Lee Shalimar
  • Tormac
  • Scott Dugan
  • Samantha Dancer

THE ARRIVAL

The team (with horses and supplies) transitioned to a woodland area. It was late afternoon. Tanisha levitated high and saw Demin in the distance. She moved a bit and thought that she saw a dragon friend. They traveled till close to night, then set up a camp. The watches were set as follows: 1) Tanisha, Lara Lee; 2) Milo, Scott; 3) Whitetop, Darr; and 4) Tormac, Two-Leaf. All watches were quiet. Levitating during her watch, Tanisha unleashed a flame jet trying to get the attention of the friendly dragon which she thought she saw once again.

While breakfast was being fixed, Whitetop did a recon of the area. He found the remains of two wolves killed several days before.

Once they had finished breakfast, they saddled up and headed east along the road. After fifteen minutes on the road, Milo and Tanisha spotted something off to the right of the road. It turned out to be a naked man staked to the ground. Milo, Tanisha, and Two-Leaf broke ranks and rushed toward the man. Tanisha dismounted, but the other two didn't immediately and thus had to control their horses, who were very nervous. Darr, who had been bringing up the rear, followed, swung around past the man, and stopped over thirty yards beyond; he dismounted, nocked his bow, and started standing guard. Tormac, Lara Lee, Scott, and Samantha stayed on the road, while Whitetop dismounted to also stand guard. The ones examining the body found a naked dead man with a stylized 'K' burned into his chest.

Milo found human and other prints around the body. Milo made a drawing of the non-human prints. They cut the body away from the stakes. They then wrapped him in a tarp, and Whitetop and Tanisha attempted to put him on Peterbuilt (the packhorse) so they could take the body into town for identification and decent burial. However, Peterbuilt refused to allow it. Whitetop tied Peterbuilt up to a tree and tried again. Peterbuilt still refused, and broke his halter and ran away, knocking Whitetop down in the process. Both Scott and Lara Lee rode out in pursuit of Peterbuilt. Scott was brushed off his horse by a low branch. Meanwhile, Whitetop was up and running after Peterbuilt. He passed Scott on the ground and then arrived at where Scott's horse had stopped. He mounted and continued. Meanwhile, after a five-minute chase, Lara Lee caught Peterbuilt and soothed him. She met Whitetop on her way back.

Once they got back, group discussion began concerning what to do with the body. Finally it was decided to tie a rope to it and hoist it up into a tree where nothing could get to it. While this was being done, Tanisha levitated up to take a look around. In the not-too-great distance, she saw a rider whom she recognized as Thumper. After informing the group, she went to meet him and lead him to where the team was.

After old acquaintances were renewed and new introductions were made, the body was lowered to see if Thumper would recognize the man. He did not, so they put the corpse back into the tree. In talking to Thumper, they found that he was in no danger as far as he knew. Things were going pretty normally, except for the strange wolf he had killed two days before. He had had to kill it to save a traveler. The wolf had just vanished after it had been killed. They then set out for the place of Father Grod at the southeast of Demin. It was just as they started out that the team realized that they had heard no animals at all since their arrival. After about a half-mile or so, they began to hear animal noises again.

AT FATHER GROD'S CHURCH

They reached Father Grod's church after about four or five miles of travel. Tanisha informed the group that Father Grod was an Orc. This upset the Dwarf, Tormac. Both Tormac and Samantha Dancer, who where new to horse riding, fell when trying to dismount. Samantha landed on Tormac, but neither of them was hurt. While everyone else was dismounting and milling around, Tanisha made a bee-line to the church so she could find the Father and advise him of his guests. She found him tending the garden at the rear of the church. Lara Lee and Two-Leaf had gone with her. The four of them circled around the church to rejoin the rest of the team. They got around to the front just in time to see Tormac enter the front door. The team was recombined and introduced to Father Grod inside the church. They told the Father what they had found, and the Father revealed that this sounded like a cult that his Bishop had warned him about several months before. The Father did not recognize the dead man's description, but he did say that he'd heard a rumor of a missing farmer.

The team decided to break into four groups to make the investigation go quicker. Whitetop and Two-Leaf would go with the Father to get the undertaker and then to pick up the body. Then they would investigate the size of the animal-free area. Tanisha, Scott, and Samantha would go talk to Lockheed the Dragon to see what he knew. Milo, Darr, and Lara Lee would go to the city's market to see if they could get leads on the missing farmer or the cult. Tormac and Thumper would go to the Dwarf community outside Demin to see what they knew.

THE INVESTIGATIONS

1. Whitetop, Two-Leaf, and the Father had no trouble collecting the undertaker and his wagon. Once they reached the body, they just lowered it into the coffin. Whitetop and Two-Leaf then proceeded to ride through the dead (of animal noises) zone and determine its size. They mapped out three sides, finding it to be about one mile in radius. Whitetop decided not to try the fourth side, because he and Two-Leaf weren't prepared to handle a fight of major proportions.

2. Tanisha, Scott, and Samantha rode north a ways with Milo, Darr, and Lara Lee, but turned west to head to the old downtown area of Des Moines, Iowa. As they approached the tower where Lockheed lived, they saw two corpses in the street. One was a butchered cow (food left for Lockheed by the townsmen), and the other the very badly burned body of one of the flying men things. Leaving her companions on the ground, Tanisha levitated up to see if Lockheed was home. He was, and Tanisha rang a gong to get his attention. After hellos were exchanged, she learned that Cessna, Lockheed's child, had moved to a city to the south.

Tanisha then, at Lockheed's invitation, climbed onto Lockheed, and they headed down to the street to get the others. Lockheed was going to carry them up one at a time. However, this was not that easy since Scott was scared of heights. Tanisha solved the problem by putting him to sleep, and holding him onto Lockheed as Lockheed flew up and she levitated beside him. Once he got them up, he went back and brought Samantha up. Before Scott and Lockheed had a musical jam session, they found out that the now-deceased flying man-thing had tried to recruit / convert Lockheed. Lockheed had 'fried' him when he began making threats. Then Lockheed and Scott began to jam: Scott on his guitar, which he always carried, and Lockheed on the tower bells (carillon). This continued for a couple of hours. They all returned to the ground as they had come up. However, Samantha talked Lockheed into doing some fancy flying with her. This part of the team then returned to the church.

3. Milo, Lara Lee, and Darr turned east when they separated from Tanisha, Scott, and Samantha. When they arrived at the market there was not much activity, since the next day was the big market day which was held every fourth day. Darr went to talk to some farmers that were hanging around, while the other two went shopping. Milo went to buy a new halter for Peterbuilt, and Lara Lee went to buy a new knife. While they were shopping for those items, Darr was directed to a man who gave him information on the missing farmer. The man lived alone southeast of town, and had been in the area for less than a year. Darr got detailed directions to his farm and committed them to memory. Darr then drifted around the market to see what information he could pick up. He rejoined Lara Lee and Milo as they entered a archery shop. Milo wanted to buy a short-bow and arrows. The shopkeeper noticed the compound bows Lara Lee and Darr were carrying, and offered to buy the one Darr had. Darr said "no, thanks". The shopkeeper also had three magic arrows for sale. Lara Lee bought one. Milo would have, but he didn't have enough for the bow and arrows and the magic arrows. Darr didn't see the need. They then had lunch, and heard the beginning of Lockheed's playing.

Once lunch was done, they decided to head the six miles further north to the university grounds which had been the HQ of an ally [Malachai] who had died during the last visit. Milo thought the visit could provide useful information. It did, but not in the way Milo had hoped. The site had been destroyed. The library was now mostly a crater, and the gym was leveled except for the floor, which had a stylized 'K' burnt into it. They searched the area and found all the building destroyed, but they found no bodies. Some prints left by the flying man-things were found. When they started back, Darr took the rear and kept a constant scan of the sky. All he saw was a figure flying that he was later told was Lockheed. They arrived back at the church around 5:00 P.M.

4. Tormac and Thumper reached the Dwarf community, where Tormac informed them of the situation. They had no specific information, but did offer their help in ridding the area of the cult if that was needed. Tormac and Thumper arrived back at the church just after Darr, Milo, and Lara Lee at 5:00 P.M.

THE EVENING

After they had settled the horses down for the night, the team reported all that had been discovered. Later, Scott went out to play his guitar. A lightning bolt hit something less than thirty yards from him, and Scott was knocked out. When the rest of the team arrived, it was discovered that one of the flying man-things had been hit as it came in. Darr looked for the defense system on the church but found nothing. With the Father's permission, they set up the Black Hole in the living quarters of the church. Lara Lee and Milo went to the simulator, where she tutored him in the use of the bow. Milo practiced for two hours.

For a while, Tanisha sat guard on top of the church, hoping to get one of the fliers before the lightning hit it. Once Milo finished his archery practice, Darr used the simulator to try out an idea he had. He took one of his grappling hooks and tried it out against flying men. It turned out to be awkward to use, being essentially a large flail. Darr practiced for about an hour. The rest of the night passed uneventfully at the church.

MORE FACT FINDING

The next morning, Tanisha awakened early to leave for the university. She had intended to go alone, but Scott woke up and insisted on going with her. When the others woke up and saddled up to head to the farm, Darr mentioned where he thought Tanisha had gone. Thumper decided to follow, and it was decided that Milo would go with him. Milo gave Whitetop instructions about what to buy at the market later in the day, before he and Thumper headed out.

Tanisha and Scott's trip to the university was uneventful. Once they arrived, they began a detailed exploration. They found the same thing that the previous day's party did. However, Tanisha knew of a secret room underneath the gym. She pulled up the hidden door, and found the room unaffected except by the passage of time. She didn't find anything pertaining to the current problem, but she did pick up a few interesting items. After she left and shut the trapdoor and got back out to Scott, Milo and Thumper arrived. Not much else was found, and they headed back to town.

Whitetop, Two-Leaf, Samantha, Darr, Lara Lee, and Tormac headed out to the farmhouse. It seemed to be deserted. The horses refused to come too close to the farmhouse. The group approached the farmhouse. Darr and Whitetop stormed into the room. They found it empty. There was a large broken black eggshell. They made a thorough search but found nothing of interest. Darr tried an experiment. He took a piece of the egg and approached the horses. They became spooked. Even when the piece was wrapped up, they wouldn't let it get near. After completing a search of all the farm buildings, they headed back to town.

It was around noon when the team at the farm headed back toward downtown and the market. They had just left the farm when Whitetop and his horse were popped out by Enigma. His backpack was still being carried by Peterbuilt. When he left, Whitetop had been point; after his departure, Lara Lee had the point position. Darr took up the trailing position.

The team comprised of Lara Lee, Samantha, Two-Leaf, Tormac, and Darr arrived at the market around 12:30. They spent about two hours there. Upon arrival Darr gave Lara Lee the money, and she, Tormac, and Two-Leaf went to do the required shopping. They found the leatherworker's shop, and they said it would take a little while to fix the harness. Tormac tried to buy a leatherworking kit but the man had none. He had also sold his other two magic arrows. Lara Lee did buy Scott a crossbow and twenty bolts. Tormac bought himself a couple of knives. When the others left, Darr found a Centaur child and paid him a dollar (quarter) to watch and tend to the horses, with a promise of more money if they were well cared for.

Then Darr and Samantha began circulating around the market in search of the rumor mill. They stopped near groups of people and began talking about the flying people. There seemed to be very little known about them, except that they were seen mostly in the northwest part of the city. Darr also planted the seed that he would pay for information if anything of interest concerning them was found. After about two hours all team members gathered at the horses. Darr paid the kid five dollars, and the party mounted up. That is, except for Tormac; it took him three tries to successfully get up on his horse. Just after he got mounted, a man came up behind his horse and touched the horse's hindquarters and paused. Darr and Two-Leaf saw this occur, and Darr, thinking the man meant harm, jumped off Phmondine and started a chase. Just as the man started to run, Darr saw him flash a mischievous grin. Darr yelled 'halt' and drew a throwing knife as he started pursuit. However, when he saw that nothing had happened to the horse, coupled with the grin, Darr stopped. He had decided the party was in no danger.

However, something had happened to the horse. It started talking to Tormac. It told him that he was a clumsy oaf, and would not proceed until Tormac was polite and said 'please'. Darr noted this and decided to find the device (transmitter) that he thought the man had planted on the horse.

INITIAL ENCOUNTER WITH FLYING DEMONS

The team at the university, composed of Tanisha, Scott, Milo, and Thumper, left there and headed toward downtown and Lockheed's tower. They were over three-fourths of the way there when they saw Lockheed in the sky chasing two winged things. Tanisha, at point, immediately turned to follow the chase. They were proceeding west along a wide boulevard. Lockheed flamed one of the two, and it hit the ground right in front of Tanisha. She and Scott dodged it. Milo stopped to secure it and to see what shape the thing was in. Less than five minutes later, Lockheed caught the other one and bit off its wing. It struck the ground, dead. Once Scott saw it was dead, he turned and headed back to Milo. Tanisha dismounted and took a close look at the creature, the first she had seen up close and not burned.

The first one was unconscious but alive, with third-degree burns over one side of its body. Milo had stabilized it just as Tanisha rode up. Using a spell, she woke it up. It screamed in pain. Milo used local anesthesia on its burns. Milo threw a couple of questions at it, which it refused to answer. Tanisha cast a mind reading spell and told Milo to continue asking questions. He asked it what it was, who was its boss, where its HQ was, and many such items. Tanisha found in its mind that it considered itself a Demon; its boss was Kadish; and it was headquartered at the northwest part of the city in a complex of buildings just five miles away. When Tanisha announced this, Scott tried to get everyone to leave. Tanisha went weak with exhaustion, and Scott led her to the edge of the road. Milo was in the middle of the road still talking with and threatening the thing. Then six flying creatures approached. Scott got back to the center of the road, calling Milo off. Thumper got CaramelBar and led her down the road to stand beside his horse. Scott bashed in the thing's head, and everyone prepared to fight.

Just as they were landing, Lockheed took off and fried one in the air. The remaining five landed clumsily. Right after they landed one of them, looking at Thumper, said "There's the one the Master wants." The ensuing fight lasted about seven seconds. In the first second an exhausted Tanisha moved up beside Painless Parker. Scott closed and made a wild swing at one. Thumper headed toward them, and Milo started pulling out an arrow as the bad guys moved mainly toward Thumper. Scott missed his one again. Thumper chopped the leg of one he closed on. Milo fired and missed with an arrow, and Tanisha formed a fireball. One closed on Milo only to have Milo's horse Splotch kick it in the chest. Scott stopped using the bat and kicked his opponent in the vitals, putting it on the ground. While Tanisha burned one, Milo finished off the one the horse kicked. Thumper finished off his. Scott was injured by one which he put down, and then was tackled by another and fell on top of the one he'd hurt. Scott reached over behind himself and grabbed the guy's head, poking it severely. Then Scott finished him. The fifth one fled after Tanisha's second fireball. Lockheed also had picked off one of the five. Milo took a shot at the fleeing one but missed. They did cleanup and prepared to leave. Milo did a very quick autopsy on one, cutting it open with a Bowie knife. Its organs were human, arranged in a human manner. They then headed for the church after Milo did first aid on Scott.

As they left the market, Darr began scanning the sky with his binoculars. He spotted Lockheed, who was flying cover for the other team. He informed Lara Lee at point, and they all decided to move toward Lockheed. Following Lockheed, they reached the church thirty minutes after the first team. Scott had gone in for a shower. Tanisha was trying to take care of her horse when Darr and the others arrived. Darr said he'd take care of her horse as well as Scott's. Milo showed Tormac what to do, while the horse kept talking to Tormac. When Darr finished taking care of the horses, he stopped by Tormac's horse to examine the area the man had touched. He found no device. While the rest went inside to eat, change, and / or bathe, Darr walked the church's perimeter to note any unusual activities. Thirty minutes later, he was called in to take part in a planning / information meeting.

BRINGING IT ALL TOGETHER

In the meeting, both Darr and Tanisha shared what they had learned. Darr's only bit was about the northwest. Tanisha made a sketch of the place she saw in the thing's mind. Samantha noted that it looked like a shopping mall; once this was pointed out, all agreed about it. Then they tried to determine why the things were after Thumper. They finally decided it centered around the wolf he had killed. Darr asked Lara Lee if she had access to the technology that the Elf kid had used. When someone challenged his use of the word and substituted 'magic', Darr said "That's what I said, 'high technology'." Lara Lee 'read' the incident in Thumper's mind, then used an illusion spell to show the scene to the rest of the team. It turned out that it was a shadow wolf (Tanisha recognized it). A replay of the scene showed a 'demon' controlling the wolf. The wolf turned away from a sure kill of its victim to charge Thumper, who easily killed it. Milo put forth a theory it was because Thumper was an Avatar of 'wolf killer'. This was figured as a possible reason.

FINAL RECON AND PREPERATIONS

The group then decided to break up into three teams. Lockheed had returned, and the group felt that a recon of the HQ was needed. After Darr spotted Lockheed and Tanisha called him down, Samantha volunteered to do a fly-by on Lockheed. After Lockheed was introduced to Darr, Tormac, and Lara Lee, Samantha flew off, riding on Lockheed's back. Tormac, Two-Leaf, and Thumper headed for the Dwarf community to the west (three-hour horse walking trip), to inform them of the situation and ask for help. Tanisha, Scott, Lara Lee, and Darr went to the market to pick up a few items for

Scott. Milo stayed in the Black Hole to analyze the thing's blood and the portion Tanisha had picked up.

At the market, the Centaur kid once more watched the horses. Scott commissioned the leatherworker to make him some leather bracers. Since it would take several hours, the team followed Scott out to where he found some minstrels to play with. It went well; he even earned some dollars. Tanisha retreated from the crowd. Darr shadowed her. He watched the crowd to see if anyone reacted in a weird way to her or Scott. The outing was uneventful, and they headed to the church at sunset.

Samantha had already returned. They all met in the guest room common room to discuss what Samantha had seen. It seems that it was a mall with two flying guards posted at the skylight, and maybe two flying guard patterns. Then Darr heard a thump out in the main common room. He tore out toward the sound. It was a very bloody Thumper minus his sword. Darr checked him out, removed his knife, and continued on out the hole when Tanisha arrived a moment later. Scott and Samantha had just exited the hole. Tanisha cast a great healing on Thumper. Milo was going for a stretcher. Lara Lee arrived and cast a minor healing. Then after a little time Tanisha cast a minor healing. By the time Milo got there with the gurney, Thumper was at almost normal health.

Meanwhile, Samantha backtracked Thumper's path, with Scott and Darr following. They reached the scene of a small battle. There were three dead flying things, and Thumper's horse which was unconscious. Darr was making sure of the flyers when Scott called his attention to Samantha lying unconscious. While Scott checked her out, Darr covered them with his rope and grapple. Darr then, at Scott's suggestion, ran to get the Doctor. He rushed back to meet all the others about halfway back. The Doctor examined Samantha, and ordered Scott and Darr to take her and place her on the couch in the common room. He then examined the horse, determining that it would be okay, it had just been knocked out. Tanisha woke it up with magic, and they took it to the barn. Thumper reclaimed his sword, and they all returned to the Black Hole. Thumper informed the others that he had been ambushed. He also let them know that Tormac and Two-Leaf with a squad of Dwarves were going to use the old sewers to recon the mall. He had returned because he was too big for the tunnels. Everyone decided to wait for that team to report back. Samantha's problem was that she was terrified of the dark. Milo decided to keep a watch of the area, but the bell tower of the church could be reached only from the outside, so he asked to borrow Darr's grapple. Darr said okay, and that he'd relieve Milo in two hours.

Darr relieved Milo as planned, and pulled watch the rest of the night. At dawn the next morning, Tormac and Two-Leaf got back from their scouting trip. Two-Leaf looked okay, but Tormac was a little beat-upon. Once the group had gathered, Tormac related what he had learned. It turned out to not be much. The scouting party ran into guards just inside the mall. They dispatched two, but one escaped even though he didn't see their exit. The Dwarves were going to gather a large raiding party and immediately return.

The group broke out into a long debate. Tanisha grew tired of this when Milo started experimenting with gunpowder. She went off toward the stables; at Darr's nod, Scott followed. Darr was afraid she was going to head off solo. Scott and Tanisha had words, and as Darr approached the barn Scott was coming out. Tanisha was riding out. Darr quickly saddled Phmondine and followed. He caught up to her before she reached the announced destination of Lockheed's lair. Tanisha lifted them both up to the top. Lockheed was asleep but awoke to tell them that nothing had happened during the night. He expressed interest in burning the mall headquarters. Tanisha told him to come to the church and join the party when they attacked. Then Tanisha lowered them back onto their horses. Darr and Tanisha then engaged in a long debate concerning 'shopping' (which was used as cover for Tanisha playing the lone wolf). Darr wasn't sure how the discussion had gone until Tanisha headed back to the church.

The team spent the time up until 3:00 P.M. getting sleep and making various preparations. Lockheed arrived then, and the team convened outside to discuss strategy. During the discussion the thought of using hang gliders came up. Both Tanisha and Milo had one. This method would get them to the site much quicker. Lockheed, Tanisha, and Milo tried a dry run, which did not work too well; Lockheed forgot and let the rope go. The second try worked much better because Whitetop tied the ropes to Lockheed's back legs. The third test was pulling Samantha and Tanisha, while Milo and Darr rode the dragon.

While they were in the air, Two-Leaf, Tormac, and Thumper asked Scott to come into the Black Hole. Scott had said he wouldn't fly. Two-Leaf decided to help him. As soon as he was in the Black Hole, she stunned him and then the others carried him out.

THE ASSAULT

Once everyone was on the ground, the order of attack was decided. Lockheed would carry Darr and the stunned Scott. Then Tormac and Thumper would be carried in. Those four would be the ground force to attack the front. Then Lockheed would tow Tanisha and Samantha carrying Two-Leaf, while Milo and Lara Lee rode Lockheed. Whitetop would turn into an eagle and meet them at the skylight. Things went according to plan -- up to a point. When Darr, Thumper, Scott, and Tormac entered the mall, Darr thought the others were coming right in, but all except Milo and Whitetop had landed at the back of the roof. Tormac turned off to the right to lead the Dwarves in. The result was that Darr, Thumper, and Scott arrived at the main battle area before the others by about ten seconds.

Whitetop dropped a rope from the skylight, and Milo started down the rope. Two creatures flew over the charging trio. Scott swung at one and missed. Darr threw a knife and hit it, but saw that no damage was done. Whitetop released Fred. Milo dodged, causing the rope to swing. Fred injured one in the leg and killed it two seconds later. He then killed the second one three seconds after that.

Meanwhile, Scott veered to the right, and Thumper and Darr went toward the center of about ten things, which flew to meet them. One landed badly in front of Thumper and was promptly beheaded. Darr stabbed at one, but did no damage and was hit in the process. When faced by two of the creatures, Darr dodged around and started to run for the back dais where the leader appeared to be. Darr then got hit from behind but kept going. The leader screamed for someone and one of the demons flew to him. Then the leader vanished but the demon remained. Another demon intercepted Scott and touched him. Scott sat down and began playing with the floor. Darr approached the scene and tried to bluff the demon by dropping his knives and pretending to surrender while reaching up to pull an arrow from his quiver. (Darr was going for a cyanide-tipped arrow.) However, the demon did not buy the story and attacked. Darr didn't have time to draw the arrow, so he attacked using karate. He hit but did no damage, and finally was touched and went mindless. He sat and started admiring the floor. Meanwhile, something had happened to Thumper and he started backing down the hall at an angle.

The second wave arrived. Whitetop had turned into an eagle and was dragging Fred, which he dropped on the dais, hoping the ax was still activated. It wasn't. The demon picked it up then flew forward. Whitetop stopped and transformed. Tanisha flash-fried one of the demons just as Two-Leaf fell over unconscious. Lara Lee threw a long-distance fireball which missed everything, and Milo fired an arrow which bounced off a demon. Tormac, who had been spurred to incredible speed, then arrived to kill one demon and knock another down while being hurt himself. Two seconds later the dwarves and Lockheed arrived, just as Tanisha threw an exploding fireball which hit and killed a demon, causing him to explode. This explosion killed two other demons and severely injured Thumper. Samantha, who had been trying to help him, received minor injuries and continued to treat him. Fred disappeared from the demon just before Lockheed killed him.

The rest was mop-up by the Dwarves and the remaining unhurt members of the team. Thumper was treated and healed by Tanisha and Lara Lee. Darr recovered from the spell right after Scott did. Tanisha then treated and very successfully healed Darr. Whitetop and Darr then began a search behind the dais. They didn't find Fred. Darr then used his grapple to make sure an invisible person wasn't hiding in the back of the room. Then they found that Lockheed had killed the fleeing mage. They found Fred in the escape chariot. Clean-up ended, and they returned to the church and were transported back to Hawaii.
