[Note: Ski missed this session because he was out of town for work-related training; Tom got hung up at work; Bill was studying for his CPA exam; and Joel's son's birthday was today. Their characters were gray-blobbed.]

Samantha's taken the guise of a broad-shouldered, large-muscled biker-type male. Catching a couple of goons lurking around the hotel, she has a bit of fun while scaring the bejeebers out of them. She sends them walking toward Oklahoma and they don't even dare look back.

Jessica's cellular phone chirps; the voice on the other end is somewhat familiar. It is the man who impersonated Mr. Parsons. He congratulates her and her team for acquiring the medallion and the book, but they are rightfully his and he will get them soon. She asks what she should call him, and he replies "Heise."

Drawing on the power of the medallion which she still wears around her neck, Jessica can see Heise in a well-appointed hotel room. Sitting at a table is the woman Jessica saw in a previous vision who ran Thomas Wainwright and Sarah Ambrose off the road. Lying on the table is a 9mm pistol and a silencer. Although she pushes, Jessica cannot see clearly anything that would give a clue as to what hotel it is.

First Heise threatens to kill the real Mr. and Mrs. Parsons as well as two police detectives unless the items are handed over to him. Then he offers their lives, plus a sum of money "to sweeten the deal." Then he threatens to kill even more people, including Thomas Wainwright's relatives. "Surely you don't want all those deaths on your conscience, Miss Spring?" Coolly, Jessica tries to convey the attitude that those people's lives mean nothing to her, that the murders would only waste Heise's time and resources, and that the deaths would be on Heise's head, not hers.

Heise congratulates Jessica's team on having not made any major mistakes yet, but says when they do, he'll be ready. He admits that he's already made his mistake; Jessica insinuates in a throaty purr that Heise hasn't made his biggest mistake... yet.

Jessica hopes she's convinced Heise that murdering the Parsons or anyone else is futile. However, she tells Thomas to notify his kinsfolk to be on their guard. As a precaution against traces, she instructs him, "Don't stay on the phone to anyone for very long."

Kev sticks his head in and informs Jessica that he'd just talked to Emile, the leader of the Toros. Emile claims to have some information for sale, but he insists on a face-to-face meeting at 8:00pm. Since Kev is still recuperating from injuries, Jessica decides she'll go.

It's not a very nice part of town. Jessica cruises past the particular street corner where she's supposed to meet with Emile, sensing many pairs of wary eyes upon her. Parking the car a few blocks away, Jessica strides confidently up the sidewalk, picking up an "escort" of several young punks in Toros colors who favor her with loud wolf whistles and lewd comments. She saunters right up to the Toro leader, extends her hand, and tells him she represents Mr. Wicked. Startled, Emile shakes her hand. His eyes travel the length of her body, and he immediately starts falling in lust with this woman.

Emile says that the Toros (along with a bunch of small-time thugs) have all been hired by a man they know as Tyler, who has put out descriptions of Jessica, Kev, and some of the others and is offering cash rewards for any information about them. Jessica declares that info to be worth something and, flashing a heretofore unseen bankroll, counts out $1000 and hands it to Emile.

Emile then describes a meeting between Tyler and a woman named Prior, which had been observed by one of the Toro gang members; Tyler and Prior appeared to be arguing, but the Toro couldn't understand what was being said. Jessica gives Emile another grand, and hints at further cash rewards. Emile promises that anything the Toros learn about the activities of Tyler, Prior, or Heise, they will pass on to Wicked or Jessica. Jessica's escorted by an honor guard of Toros back to her car, which is just as she left it.

Jessica drives back to the safe house in Plano, arriving around 10:00pm. She summarizes her meeting with the Toros for the rest of the team. Greeting Wainwright, who mentions something about Stephanie's visitation having been today, Jessica suddenly realizes that Thomas hasn't had a chance to bid a final farewell to his dead fiancee. She decides to take Thomas back to Restland; Steve Williams volunteers to drive and keep watch.

Nobody bothers the two as they enter the building. Jessica opens the door to the visitation room, then stands quietly nearby as Thomas raises the casket lid and mourns for his lost love. At one point someone, probably a member of the funeral home staff, starts to open the door to the room. Thomas turns his head sharply, and Jessica feels the medallion glow briefly as he barks, "Stay out of here!" The person hastily withdraws.

When Thomas is finally ready to go, as she passes through the doorway Jessica feels a compulsion (easily overcome) to "go away", as if the force of Thomas' words lingered there. This gets her to thinking. Back in the car, with Steve driving them away from the cemetery, she raises the question to all and sundry -- might it not be a good idea for Sarah Ambrose and Cela Morningstar to touch the medallion as Thomas had, so they could possibly use their awakened abilities to help defend themselves? Thomas' answer is an immediate, emphatic "Yes!" As it happens, they're passing close to the hotel where Reg is staying, so Steve exits off of the freeway.

Jessica asks Samantha to bring the book out of her black hole. Jessica exposes Sarah and Cela to the medallion. Its effect on them is every bit as stunning as it was on Thomas.

Jessica has them practice a simple Light spell; she reads it aloud from the book while they recite the words. Later on (through Reg's efforts) Paul Lindsay and Tabitha Stevens show up at the hotel room and are also initiated into the circle. Jessica is very pleased to see that the five hit it off quickly and immediately begin establishing rapport with each other.

Heise calls Jessica again. Again he threatens to kill people unless he gets the medallion. She tells him that if he harms even one person, he'll never ever see the medallion. After Heise hangs up Jessica gathers the circle together. Despite the risks and uncertainties involved, she guides them in casting a Mind Control spell on Heise to prevent him from killing anyone. The effects of the spell are not immediately known, but the casting leaves each member of the circle (including Jessica) quite fatigued.

There's no rest for the good guys, though, because right after that Jessica has another precog vision in which she sees dozens of goons armed with automatic weapons invading their hotel and slaughtering everyone on the 7th floor, no more than a couple of hours from that time. Thomas, Sarah, Cela, Paul, and Tabitha get bundled into the van with Samantha and Reg and head north towards Plano.

Reg had contacted Pierre, instructing him to call in a bomb threat to the hotel. This Pierre does with great pleasure, claiming to be a neo-Nazi. He follows this up by renting a light airplane, buzzing the hotel, and dropping a smoke grenade, drawing shots from the police and SWAT teams responding to the bomb threat.

Brodie, out on his own, happens upon a couple of mercs, one of whom is just about to place a phone call to Heise.

Jessica, carrying the book and medallion, has Steve drive south into Toro turf. There she contacts Emile, who has his boys conduct them to a safe place. Placing herself under light hypnosis, Jessica sleeps soundly.
