Track 1 – Rescue OSS Agent (01/06/1990 - 01/13/1990)
GM: John Gourd
Write-up: Bobby Jones
HAWAII REST PERIOD NUMBER THREE;. Hawaii -- 60 days.
NOTE: During this time rest periods were a little different. Teams did not intermix. No recruitment was done.
This was a two-month rest period from January to February of 1986.
Toward the end of the first week, Tanisha arrived back from a "backpack" trip almost dead. During the first six weeks, Darr studied electronics and local (world) history in great detail. He got several people to teach him English. (He also bought instructional tapes to aid him.) He practiced his driving skills, as well as spending time on the firing range and fencing with Colin, Kristi, and Tanisha.
Dan Lucky retired, and Nigel, an English lizardman, joined the group at the beginning of the R&R period. Darr also got two ten-inch throwing knives from Michael Schmidt. During the seventh and part of the eighth week, Darr vanished to Europe. He used his time to make some preliminary contacts with underground.

They exited the Black Hole in a cellar of a farmhouse. They explored the cellar and found a secret tunnel exit but could not open it. The farm owner returned at about 8:30 am. Introductions were performed. He assumed that they were part of the OSS. He was the leader of the local Resistance. At dawn they were supposed to have met an OSS agent parachuting in. However, it had gone bad and all but he were caught or killed. The OSS agent had been taken to the manor house HQ. The group decided to free him that night. Colin was monitoring radio traffic. The computer head that Nigel got from Enigma’s junk pile tried to decipher the coded radio traffic.
The farmer sacked out and the team set up watches. Milo’s watch was peaceful, but forty minutes into Darr’s watch he heard Germans above conducting a search. He woke the rest, who came out of the Hole and removed it from the wall. Waking their host, they exited into the escape tunnel. Whitetop, Kristi, and the host headed to the tunnel’s end. Darr, Schmidt, and Tanisha halted twenty yards in. Two-Leaf went further. Milo, Nigel, and Colin stayed at the door. The Germans did not find their hiding place, so the group all exited toward the cave. The host took them to the jump-off point just inside the cave entrance. They set up the Hole and killed time and rested until nightfall.
Darr slept from 1230 till 1730, then got up and ate supper after getting ready. His equipment included: .45, M-16, combat knife, two throwing knives, maglight, IR goggles, vest, and headset radio. Kristi flirted with him. The rest awakened. Milo fixed a big meal. Nigel ate again (he had eaten with Kristi and Darr). Kristi watched and Darr paced the perimeter. The group discussed and agreed on a plan. They finished the plan at about 2000, then headed out. Whitetop turned into an eagle, and going ahead, he took some dynamite to mine a mountain pass that the German reinforcements would use if they are called.
They arrived at the mansion’s rear and began watching, after being joined by Whitetop who had planted traps on the road leading to the military camp. Michael Schmidt took out the back guard, and Kristi took the other one and entered the house. Two-Leaf went to the stables and began sabotaging the cars. Whitetop went to join her. Colin climbed the west side of the house and cut the radio antenna. Then Colin came to the front of the house and took out the door guard. Nigel sneaked up on the guard at the rear of the car and stomped him when the guard hit the ground after Colin had shot the other guard.
Darr (wearing a borrowed trench coat) and their host (the French resistance leader) tried the front door. Darr was to impersonate a Gestapo bringing him in. However, the door opened from the inside, revealing the guard’s dead body to Goebbels and the lieutenant in charge of the detail. Darr grabbed the Resistance leader and yelled "Stop him, he killed the guard!". Darr threw the Frenchman into Goebbels, and then sprayed the lieutenant in the face with a knockout spray given him by Milo. The Resistance leader recognized Goebbels and pulled his knife trying to kill him. Darr had knocked the lieutenant out but not before he yelled a warning. The guards were roused. Nigel came in to provide cover.
Meanwhile Milo and Tanisha came in the back and went to the cellar. They found the nine French prisoners, woke them up, and began leading them to safety as fast as possible. Schmidt went up the back stairs and set a bomb at the top. Then he settled down to cover the upstairs. He had to kill a trooper with his unsilenced .45. The Resistance leader killed Goebbels while this was going on. Kristi took up position at the dining room door. Colin was at the kitchen door. Nigel helped the Frenchman remove the corpse and the lieutenant. Kristi killed an officer with her silenced rifle when he got too talkative to Darr about who he was. Colin went to the back stairs to help.
Nigel and the Frenchman lifted the car keys from the dead guard and headed around back. Most of the Germans were downstairs as the prisoners left the basement. Finally a gunfight broke out downstairs. Most of guards were stunned or killed. Schmidt, coming around, was wounded badly. Colin killed two more Germans, but one dropped a grenade down the stairs. Colin dodged to the other side of the room.
Darr, who was at the front of the front room at the start of the gunfight, started around the house. Nigel had left the car, and the French leader then began pickup of his men at the back door. The Doc dragged Schmidt to the sitting-room door to begin first aid on him. The grenade went off, stunning Milo and Tanisha as well as the wounded Schmidt. Kristi and Colin dashed upstairs. During all this Whitetop had been sniping at the upper floor and had lobbed in smoke grenades. Over the comm net Milo had informed the group that the OSS agent was not with the French captives. Colin and Kristi dashed to the room to the right upstairs and prepared to burst in.
All the prisoners were loaded on the truck, and left as Darr dashed in the back. He saw that Tanisha and Milo were over Schmidt and the situation was okay, so he dashed up the back stairs. Near the top Nigel caught up and carried him the last few steps. Darr took up station at the top of stairs controlling the hallway. Nigel dashed into a side room, intent on bursting through the main wall to scare the Germans. He found no wall, just one large room with no walls and many Germans. He dashed through taking shots, and burst out other door, narrowly missing hitting Kristi. He took out several Germans but was severely wounded. Colin sprayed automatic fire through the wall. Whitetop joined the fray. Darr advanced on the side door.
Colin called on the remaining Germans to surrender. They shot back instead. Darr chopped from the side, killing one of the last two and wounding the other, just as Colin entered the door and chopped them up with more automatic fire. Milo called for Two-Leaf (nurse trainee) and left Michael Schmidt to Tanisha, who set up the Black Hole and carried Schmidt in and put him in the autodoc. Darr called for the French leader over the comm net, and he and Whitetop began a sweep of the house to verify that it was secure. Tanisha came to help Milo with Nigel and she cast a very successful healing spell. Once house was verified as secure, Whitetop began to clean the house of out-time material. Colin freed the OSS agent and Milo started treatment. The French returned. Mission complete.
Time: three-fourths day.
