Take the Space Station

A049 Track 1 Assignment

Assignment: Take over a US military space station so that its facilities (in particular, the communications hub and the fifty nuclear warheads) cannot be used by the Kennedy regime to `influence' the 1984 presidential election. Locate and track a time-travel agent, download data from his base's computer, then destroy the base if possible.

Background: In this parallel Earth, John F. Kennedy has been President of the United States for twenty years. His brother, Robert F. Kennedy, is vice-president. Opposing the Kennedy regime is a small but growing movement, spearheaded by a man calling himself "Reginald Myers".

At least two other IS teams have visited this particular timeline before. Reg Myers led one team which saved the life of a ten-year-old Georgia boy named Scott Smith from time-traveling assassins. Scott used his meta-ability to "borrow" skills from other people to rescue his young friend Freddy from drowning. At the end of that mission Reg, having learned of Scott's interest in history, encouraged him to "make some".

Later, Reg led another team which again encountered Scott Smith, now in his twenties, saved his life again, and influenced him to "make a difference". In the course of that adventure Scott's childhood chum, Freddy, reappeared in his life after a fifteen-year hiatus, carrying a computer tape containing data which could have serious repercussions for the Kennedy regime. It was to Freddy that Reg Myers "gave" his name, appearance (using makeup), and identification. The team also met Scott's sister, Pam, whose psi abilities had begun to manifest.

The team for this mission will arrive on November 5, 1984. Election Day is November 6. When they are popped in, the team will assume the identities of the Antares II space shuttle crew, which has been afflicted with a deadly biochemical agent. (Enigma has popped the crew into the JMC, where the doctors are working feverishly to save their lives.) Their contact on the space station is Sgt. Barry Ellenberg. Enigma has supplied the team with two time-cycles, a handheld computer, and vacc suits.
