Rebellion in Helm’s Deep
Just outside the warehouse on the edge of Helm’s Deep, the group gathers as they try to figure out how to find the naked invisible dwarf. Intrinsius lets Chalker know that after casting the Sense Foes spell he did not find any foes in the immediate area of the warehouse or inside the warehouse.
Chalker checks the tracks in the area and returns to Dain’s side to wake him up. As he approaches Dain, Nia, Tye and Kray walk out of the tunnel with hostages in tow. Nia asks if anyone has a seeker sell, to which Tye replies affirmative and begins to cast the spell with the clothes left behind by Trask. He locks onto Trask and quickly finds him, however after I thought he asks if anyone has anything left from inside Trask’s home.
Nia has a ledger from the home, so the team discusses how to proceed. Tye, Dain and Instrinsius follow the seeker spell to the location, while Chalker and Nia remain at the warehouse while Kray goes to get the evil items out of Trask’s office.
Tye, Dain and Instrinsius move quickly down the streets honing in on the location of the seeker spell. Moving at a pace that while attracting attention does make it easier to find anyone following them.
Chalker and Nia begin to question the captives. Chalker places the soldier in a chair and uses his telekinesis to place a dagger at his head. After this he give the soldier a moderately hard slap to wake him. As the soldier comes back to consciousness, Chalker slowing pushes the dagger into the soldier’s left temple just enough to let him know that the dagger is there. A startled look came on the soldier’s face and he seems to give a quick flex to check his bonds.
Chalker asks if the soldier knows the location of Trask, to which he seems happy, since he knows that Trask got away. Chalker interrogates him and learns his motives for joining the rebelling and his supposed reward. Chalker tells him he will get the mage prisoner and that if the soldier speaks Chalker will kill him.
Chalker brings in the mage and prepares to question him.
Intrinsius and company reaches an area with 3 houses, one of which the trace is in. Before proceeding, they team decide to scout the area for potential danger. They find 2 spots from which people can watch the house (it is the center house after all). Intrinsius messages Chalker and lets him know that they will sit and watch the house and the people watching the house.
Chalker begins to question the mage learning of 2 additional bolt holes. As Chalker is blindfolding and gagging the mage again, Nia notices that he is preparing to cast a spell or memorizing the location for his spell and tells Chalker, who promptly punches the mage in the head to mess with his concentration. Chalker then asks Nia to run an errand before they head to meet up with Intrinsius.
Meanwhile, Intrinsius is traveling between the 2 locations to check on status updates and to make sure Dain and Tye are both OK, casting a watch dog spell behind each of them to be informed if someone sneaks up on them.
Nia searches the area for a carriage and eventually finds a fancy tavern with several carriages out front. She looks for a rental carriage that she can hire. She eventually finds a carriage that is being dismissed as the couple inside said they were headed to an intimate rendezvous with another couple and will stay with them. Nia hears this and approaches the coach driver to offer some work.
At the warehouse, Chalker meets up with Kray and learns that there are already people cleaning up Trask’s house so he was only able to obtain some of the evil artifacts. Shortly after Nia returns to the warehouse in the carriage and Chalker and Kray exit with the bound prisoners and load them into the carriage. Chalker then goes up to talk to the driver to extend their time beyond the initial hour. He then messages Intrinsius and asks him to take care of the watchers.
Intrinsius sneaks up on each watcher and chokes them out using his Judo, taking them each to his watch partners to keep an eye on. Shortly after, Chalker, Nia and Kray arrive in their carriage. All the prisoners are loaded in, and shortly before Chalker was about to enter the house Nia received a warning from the runestone in her pocket prompting her to stop Chalker. After a brief discussion, they decide to instead head to the temple of Dar.
Upon entering the temple, there is nobody in attendance as it is into the night. Chalker has the prisoners placed on the alter and one of the unholy items are also placed on the alter. Almost instantly, 5 priests, 2 carrying sword walk into the room.
The high priest talks to each in turn mentioning their unique connections to each of the first chosen. After some discussion, the group leaves hearing the priests chanting around the alter in the shape of a pentagram.
As they arrive at Trask’s house, a small stone house on the south side. Chalker plans to have the team cover the Chimney and smoke out the people inside. Intrinsius suggest that since there is likely a least one bolt hole we should enter through those and force Trask to flee from the front door as he wouldn’t likely be prepared for that. In the end, the group decides to do both plans. A team of Nia and Tye will some out the house by covering the chimney, Chalker and Dain will enter and wait in one tunnel, while Intrinsius and Kray will wait in the other.
Upon decision, Nia adroitly scales the wall of the house to the roof while Tye slowly levitates himself. Nia quickly spots the eye and notices it is unable to see her or Tye in its current location.
Chalker and Dain find the end of their tunnel and enter into it, and Intrinsius and Kray do the same on their end. Nia overhears the mage yelling, “I’m clearing the smoke”, and Trask screaming, “this is a pre-cursor to an attack. Go for the bolt hole! The one in the back.” Nia quickly climbs down the wall to let Chalker know. Tye quickly tells Nia that he may go in through the front door if she doesn’t object.
Intrinsius enters the tunnel with both swords drawn, leading Kray down the tunnel. Dain leads Chalker down the tunnel in the rear.
Nia catches up to Chalker and lets him know that everyone is heading towards him through that bolt hole in the back. Chalker informs Intrinsius and urges him and Kray to come in behind Trask by continuing through their bolt hole, to which Intrinsius agrees. Nia darts 10 feet in front of the group and casts Glue on the ground.
Intrinsius moves at speed and uses forced entry on the door to enter the room. The room is filled with smoke and visibility is minimal. Quickly scanning the room and continuing to move forward, Intrinsius finds the other bolt hole and runs towards it. Out of the corner of his eye he sees Tye entering the room while casting spell. As he reaches the bolt hole, Intrinsius finds a guard holding a throwing axe which he promptly throws at Intrinsius narrowly missing him. Intrinsius responds with double thrusts from his swords which the dwarves guard miraculously dodges.
Chalker sees a guard coming down the corridor ahead of him, followed by another guard and the mage. Chalker quickly uses the dagger magekiller via telekinesis to stab the dwarves mage behind Trask saying “one less mage”. The 2nd guard uses the first guard as a launching pad to get over the next hex and past the glue spell. He somehow makes it just in time for Dain to step out and strike at him. Miraculously the guard dodges, but in the process somehow buries his axe in the 3rd guard coming up behind him.
Nia faces off agains a guard and uses a spell to unbuckle the belt that holds up his weapons. It promptly fall down to his legs restricting his mobility. Dain takes a swing at guard 2 who tries to dodge but instead falls forward onto his face in front of Dain and Nia.
Intrinsius does another double stab at the guard and this times connects with both causing extensive damage to the guard. This is followed by another double stab that connects yet again with the dwarves guard saying a word in Dwarven that leaves the guards behind him with a scared look on their faces. Intrinsius drops his swords and casts and throws a fireball at the second guard. Following this, all the remaining guards kneel on the floor and say something that Intrinsius can’t understand in Dwarven.
At this, the fight ended and the group took the survivors into custody. Chalker finds a strange object from Trask as well as all his weapons and gold.
