Holden has only been aware of his existence for 6 months. Holden has no memories and a desire to seek out the truth about who he is seems to be lacking in the young man. For 6 months riding the rails has kept Holden occupied and content. Holden has developed a knack for keeping hidden and the generosity of nameless passengers has kept him sustained.
