On Thursday, August 18, Enigma approached Kev McGuire to recruit for a mission to go to Nazi Germany to find a despondent man. (Piece of cake, huh? Oh, you say it has to be a particular despondent man. Well. That’s different.) Prudently, Kev first recruited Dr. Vincent Emery. (Kev believes in looking out for Number One. (Maybe because he came so close to losing his on that one mission...?))

The team popped out from the hotel lobby at noon on August 25.

The group appeared on a sidewalk in Kiel, Germany in February, 1945. It was raining... bombs. They’d popped in during the last few minutes of an air raid. Everyone dove for cover. When the raid was over and the sirens sounded the all-clear, townsfolk climbed out of the subway tunnels and resumed their normal business.

Jessica continued to plead with CPO Ballinger to let her take Meisner home. Ballinger stood up and instructed his other two men to pick up Meisner, and they went out the back door of the bar. Ballinger stood in the doorway momentarily and sternly ordered the fraulein not to follow. Jessica radioed that the four were proceeding up the alley, then cut through the bar toward the front door.

When they reached the street, Ballinger’s group (unknowingly being trailed by Jeremy) was confronted by Reg and Kev.
